Quick answer: No. Clever Shield does not pull, access, or affect your credit file in any way. We find where your personal information is exposed online, remove it from data broker sites, and watch for your details on the dark web. None of that touches your credit report or your credit score. Here is exactly what we do and do not do with your information.

“I don’t want you accessing my credit.”

We hear this, and it is a completely reasonable thing to want clarified. So let us be direct: Clever Shield has no access to your credit report, and using us does not create a hard inquiry, change your score, or open your credit file. We are a privacy and data-removal service, not a credit bureau or a lender.

If you ever get an alert that mentions a piece of financial information, that is monitoring for exposure, not us looking at your credit. The difference matters, so here it is in plain terms.

What Clever Shield actually does

There are two sides to your protection, and neither one involves your credit file.

1. Finding and removing your data. We scan 100+ data broker and people-search sites for your name, address, phone, email, and similar details, then submit removal requests to get those listings taken down. This is public-records and broker cleanup. It has nothing to do with credit.

2. Monitoring for exposure. If you choose to monitor sensitive items, we watch for those details showing up where they should not, like on the dark web or in a breach. “Monitoring for exposure” means we alert you if your information leaks. It does not mean we are reading your credit report or tracking your accounts.

The difference between monitoring and pulling credit

This is where the confusion usually starts.

  • Pulling credit is what a lender or credit-monitoring service does when it reads your file at Equifax, Experian, or TransUnion. It can show inquiries and affect how your file looks. Clever Shield does not do this.
  • Monitoring for exposure is checking whether your information has leaked into places it should not be. That is what we do, and it never touches your actual credit file.

So if you see “new activity detected,” it is an exposure alert about your information appearing somewhere risky, not a sign that we opened or viewed your credit.

What we do with your information

Straight from our privacy practices:

  • We only use your information to find and remove your exposed records and to monitor for your protection.
  • We do not sell or rent your personal information. Ever.
  • We share data only with the service providers that help run the platform (hosting, analytics, payment processing) or with authorities when legally required.
  • You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your information at any time.

How to delete your data if you want to

If you would rather we stop entirely, you are in control. You can run the full account-deletion flow right from your account settings, which closes your account and stops all monitoring emails. If you would like help, email [email protected] and we will walk you through it.

The bottom line

Clever Shield protects your privacy without ever touching your credit. We remove your exposed data, we watch for leaks, and we keep your information private and unsold. If anything in your account ever makes you wonder what we can see, ask us. We are happy to explain.
